Time for a science lesson. I have received a number of these questions mainly: Does the water actually drain and rotate counter clock-wise in the toilet or sink? People asking this question is asking about the "Coriolis" effect. http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/basics/coriolis-understanding.htm

Well the scientific answer NO. At the small scale of a sink or toilet, the Coriolis Effect does not actually play any part in the rotation of how it drains. However at a large scale of a hurricane or typhoon, then it will follow the counter clock-wise motion in the southern hemisphere vs. the northern hemisphere of clockwise. That is the science fact of the day.

To fulfill a Markane request, here is a picture of Burger King, or I mean "Hungery Jack's." It is pretty much a Burger King in look and feel with the Whoppers and all, just with a different name. Good burgers and fun commercials.

Just before leaving Taipei, the holidays were just starting to get promoted. Let the shopping begin. We went to this mall that had fireworks with the lighting of the tree. Chistmas with a big bang!

Not usually into Spas, but this one we just had to check out. Turns out it is one of the travel magazines as a Spa to visit. It was relaxing with the water overlooking the Gorge.

For Thanksgiving, Thao and I got out of the city 3 hours by train ride south and a 1 hour car ride to Toroko Gorge. It was quite interesting and had windy roads. Here is a pick of a Pagoda near a buddist temple by our hotel.

Was able to meet up with some good friends while in Taipei also. Elaine, Eva, and Eva's sister (Cheryl). We had some great beef noodle soup. Good times!

There was a ball dance event the first evening I arrived in Taipei for Thao's work at AIT and the American Chamber of Commerce that we attended. Lots of fun, with a Hawaiian theme, here is a picture of some dancers with fire.

I know, I know, it has been a month since my last posting. Well just returned from Taipei, Taiwan from the Thanksgiving holiday. Visited Thao over the break and went up the Taipei 101 tower (currently the tallest building in the owlrd). It also has the fastest elevator in the world. Lots of fun. More pics to come.
